SESSION 4 – REGISTRATION OPEN! - FREE TRIAL CLASSES AVAILABLE FOR KIDS & ADULTS

Adults ---- Kids ---- Teens

Chers membres, chers amis,

Dear Members and Friends,

October first and foremost marks the beginning of our Session 4, from 6 October. Whether you are continuing your French journey with us or finally considering taking your first steps into the language, our teams and teachers are ready to welcome you for the final session of the year. And if you have not enrolled yet, there is still time to join us!

This month will also be a rather special one for Alliance Française de Brisbane. On 8 and 9 October, we will have the great pleasure of hosting the 2026 Gathering of the Alliances Françaises of Australia at SAE University College, organised by the French Embassy. For two days, representatives from Alliances across the country will come together in Brisbane to exchange ideas, reflect together and, of course, enjoy a few convivial moments. It is a great honour for our Alliance to host this national gathering this year.

Culture will also take centre stage this month. On 9 October, Voxalis Opera will present Claude Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande, performed in French with English surtitles. Our CinéClub will then return to SAE on 14 October with Petit Vampire, Joann Sfar's beautiful animated film. Two very different worlds, but two wonderful opportunities to experience French creativity here in Brisbane.

October will also be a month of results. Entries for Say Cheese!, our photography competition celebrating the Bicentenary of Photography, have now closed, and the winner, selected by our jury president, French-Australian art photographer François Détaille, will be announced during the month. Our poetry competition, meanwhile, has achieved a result that we are particularly delighted with: 230 entries from 14 schools! The final will take place at the Alliance on 15 October.

Our members' activities are also returning to their usual rhythm. Our Book Club will meet on 9 October to discuss Marcel Pagnol's La Gloire de mon père and, good news for our regulars, our Game Nights are back every week from 6 October.

Finally, I could not end without sharing some news that we are particularly pleased about: Alliance Française de Brisbane has been nominated for the 2026 French-Australian Excellence Awards in the Culture, Entertainment & Events Award category. This nomination also belongs to our entire community — our teams, our teachers, our volunteers, our partners and all of you who bring the Alliance to life every day. So this time, I will not simply ask you to like or share: vote for your Alliance!

Thank you, as always, for your loyalty, enthusiasm and invaluable support. I look forward to seeing many of you throughout what promises to be a particularly lively October.

Gathering of Alliance Française

The Alliance Française Annual Meeting will take place here in Brisbane on the 8th and 9th October. This important event will bring together representatives from Alliance Française organisations from across Australia, providing an opportunity to meet, exchange ideas, and discuss the future and development of Alliance Française in Australia.

This meeting taking place at SAE University College, organised by the French Embassy will be a valuable opportunity to discuss current challenges and opportunities, and explore new ideas and initiatives for strengthening the Alliance Française network throughout Australia.

We look forward to welcoming our colleagues from across the country to Brisbane.
