Song and Poetry Competition
Le "Concours de Chanson et de Poésie 2017" was held on Saturday 19 August 2017 at Alliance française de Brisbane and on Monday 21 August 2017 at All Saints Anglican School on the Gold Coast. 16 different schools entered 300 participants!
The Prize giving ceremony was held on 06 Octobe r
at 4.15pm at Alliance Française de Brisbane. The finalists and mentions were called out and invited to recite their poem.

According to their age, children sing a song or recite a poem in front of a jury usually composed of two French teachers. Songs and poems are learnt by heart. Pronunciation and clarity, memorisation, interpretation and prosody are the 4 main criteria.
Who can perform?
The competition is open to Prep to Year 12 students of French. French-speakers can also enter the competition in the "francophone" category.
Prep to Year 4 students will perform a song chosen from the 2017 Song booklet.
Year 5 to Year 12 students will choose a poem from the 2017 Poem booklet according to their year level. Alternatively children can select a poem from the 2017 Special Edition exploring the little known continent of the African poetry.

How do I register?
The registration deadline was Friday 28 July 2017.
It is now too late to register for the 2017 edition but the competition is open to the public (Saturday 19 August 2017).
The fee is $10 per student.
Discount applies as follows:5% discount for 20 to 49 students enrolled / 10% discount for 50 and more students enrolled.

It specifies the number of children entering the competition. Please send it back to email@example.com. Upon reception an invoice will be issued and sent out to you. Alliance française will not accept any change in numbers after the invoice has been sent out. Payment has to be forwarded to Alliance française within two weeks of the issuing date of the invoice.

Fill in the List of children
It specifies the details for each child entering the competition (first name, last name, ...). It has to be sent back via email to firstname.lastname@example.org by the registration deadline.

When is the Prize giving ceremony?
- Friday 25 August: Results for the Poetry competition will be emailed to schools and also available on the Alliance's website.
- Friday 06 October: The Prize giving ceremony will be held at 4.15pm until 5.00pm at Alliance Française de Brisbane. RSVP is essential by Tuesday 03 October. Uniform is not compulsory. All participants are welcome. Only finalists and mentions will be called out and invited to recite their poem.
