Song and Poetry Competition
Le "Concours de Chanson et de Poésie 2018 will be held on Tuesday 05 June on the Gold Coast (All Saints Anglican School ) and on 18 August 2018 at Alliance française de Brisbane.
According to their age, children sing a song or recite a poem in front of a jury usually composed of two French teachers. Songs and poems are learnt by heart. Pronunciation and clarity, memorisation, interpretation and prosody are the 4 main criteria.
Who can perform?
The competition is open to Prep to Year 12 students of French. French-speakers can also enter the competition in the "francophone" category.
Prep to Year 4 students will perform a song chosen from the 2018 Song booklet.
Year 5 to Year 12 students will choose a poem from the 2018 Poem booklet according to their year level. Alternatively children can select a poem from the 2018 Special Edition (TBC) exploring the little known continent of the African poetry.
How do I register?
The registration deadline was Friday 27 July 2018.
The fee is $10 per student.
Discount applies as follows:5% discount for 20 to 49 students enrolled / 10% discount for 50 and more students enrolled.
Fill in the Purchase order form
It specifies the number of children entering the competition. Please send it back to email@example.com. Upon reception an invoice will be issued and sent out to you. Alliance française will not accept any change in numbers after the invoice has been sent out. Payment has to be forwarded to Alliance française within two weeks of the issuing date of the invoice.

Fill in the List of children
It specifies the details for each child entering the competition (first name, last name, ...). It has to be sent back via email to firstname.lastname@example.org by the registration deadline.

When is the Prize giving ceremony?
Friday 24 August: Results for the Poetry competition will be emailed to schools and also available on the Alliance's website.
- Friday 07 October: The Prize giving ceremony will be held at 4.15pm until 5.00pm at Alliance Française de Brisbane. RSVP is essential by Tuesday 04 October. Uniform is not compulsory. All participants are welcome. Only finalists and mentions will be called out and invited to recite their poem.
