2019 Alliance française SONG AND POETRY Competition

The Alliance Française de Brisbane has been running school competitions for over 40 years.

This is a great opportunity for kids and teens to improve their French and, above all, to have fun!

Le "Concours de Chanson et de Poésie 2019" will be held on Tuesday 04 June 2019 on the Gold Coast at All Saints Anglican School from 4.00pm (Senior school library) and on Saturday 08 June 2019 at Alliance française de Brisbane from 1.30pm.

WHAT IS THE COMPETITION ABOUT?

According to their age, children sing a song or recite a poem in front of a jury usually composed of two French teachers. Songs and poems are learnt by heart. Pronunciation and clarity, memorisation, interpretation and prosody are the 4 main  criteria.

WHAT ARE THE PRIZES?

AFX Student Exchange is our major sponsor. It will reward the best student in the grade 9 section with a 6 week exchange program to France, including airfare to Paris and back.  For more information about AFX Student Exchange and their specialist exchange programs to France, please visit: www.afxstudentexchange.com

Other prizes rewarding the highest performing students include French books, CDs, food vouchers and more.

WHO CAN PERFORM?

The competition is open to Prep to Year 12 students of French. French-speakers can also enter the competition in the "francophone" category.

  • Prep to Year 4 students will perform a song chosen from the 2019 Song booklet.
