2018 Beaujolais nouveau

Beaujolais nouveau is the world's most popular vin de primeur. A red wine, made from Gamay grapes born in the region south of Burgundy, it is produced and bottled only a few weeks after harvest and is meant to be consumed immediately - not aged, like many other varieties of wine. Released only once a year, it is a requirement under French law that this light and fruity wine not be distributed until 12:01am on the third Thursday of November each year. In France, a race to carry the first bottle of Beaujolais nouveau to Paris has become a national event, with cafés and bars across the city announcing when "Le Beaujolais nouveau est arrivé!"

Alliance Française is importing almost 100 bottles of this exclusive wine direct from France so the community in-and-around Brisbane can join in this global event.

Tickets only $65 per person (cheaper for AF Members) and include two glasses of Beaujolais nouveau, paired with chef's selection of premium farmhouse and international cheeses, and other grazing delicacies. We are also delighted to announce that master of wine, Mr Peter Scudmore-Smith, returns for another year to introduce Beaujolais and give tasting notes about the 2018 vintage, as well as the Alliance Française de Brisbane choir Chantefique, who will entertain with chansons à boire!

Please note, due to licensing restrictions, it is strictly required that all patrons attending the 2018 Beaujolais nouveau are aged 18+ and are carrying a valid form of photo ID.

Sorry, you've missed the RSVP deadline for this event.
