More about Laure Niveau
After growing up in Paris, Laure Niveau discovered Australia in 1999, at the age of 23. She discovered many corners of the country... and fell in love instantly with the Indigenous people of this far away land. Laure came back several times in the following years. She travelled to several remote places in the desert, met with the most beautiful and peaceful native women, deepening her love and respect for the Indigenous communities and their culture.
These travels, stories, memorable images and connections will turn in 2004 into L'Espace Ab'Origine in Paris.
Her will to build a bridge between these populations and her native country pushed her into creating a dedicated space for North-Australian territories and Torres Strait Islands aboriginal art.
She is now living in Australia and has opened a new gallery on her name : Laure Niveau gallery.
Authentic artworks from North-Australian territories and Torres Strait Islands aboriginal artists are exhibited there.
Laure Niveau sells these pieces of art in aid of the artists in the most respectful way : she is sticking to an extreme transparency approach by collaborating equally with the artists and by respecting their choices about publication, promotion and sale of their artworks.
Laure is a member of the Indigenous Art Code which helps protect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists by getting sellers of
their art to commit to treating artists fairly, honestly and respectfully.
