Elementary 1 - No French required for Absolute Beginners
Elementary 2, 3 or 4

Level A1 objectives:
- Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type.
- Can introduce him/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows and things he/she has.
- Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

Elementary 1

This course is for absolute beginners in French. In this course, students will learn the vocabulary and language structures required to:

  • Greet others, introduce yourself and someone else
  • Give and ask for personal details (name, address, telephone number, age and nationality)
  • Count and use numbers
  • Recite the alphabet
  • Express likes and dislikes

Elementary 2

This course is for students who have completed level A1 Elementary 1 or been assessed prior to enrolling. In this course, students will learn the vocabulary and language structures required to:

  • Talk about your leisure activities and daily routine
  • Inquire about and book accommodation
  • Describe your city and neighbourhood
  • Ask for and give directions
  • Ask about a schedule and make an appointment

Elementary 3

This course is for students who have completed level A1 Elementary 2 or been assessed prior to enrolling. In this course, students will learn the vocabulary and language structures required to:

  • Introduce and talk about your family
  • Ask for and give the time
  • Talk about and describe your daily routine and habits in more details
  • Organise and invite someone out
  • Order a meal at a restaurant and talk about clothing

Elementary 4

This course is for students who have completed level A1 Elementary 3 or been assessed prior to enrolling. In this course, students will learn the vocabulary and language structures required to:

  • Access information on tourist destinations and essential services
  • Enquire about accommodation
  • Talk about your holiday
  • Talk simply about your health and describe how you feel
  • Ask for and give directions in more detail
