Sculpture Exhibition - Indulgence

The gallery at the Alliance Française will display a stunning exhibition

- Indulgence - by artist Danièle Lamarche Sarvia.

Meet the artist at the opening night on Friday 10th September at 6pm!

Indulgence

In an inimitably unabashed style, Daniele explores the different facets of womanhood. She uses feminine archetypes and icons to portray the dichotomies of both strong and vulnerable aspects of a woman. Her sculptures, often small scale, tell a different story from each perspective, much like a woman.

Through her work, Daniele explores the contradictory existence of women as they take on the different roles of mother, daughter, child, sister and lover. Some of these roles are created of her own accord, and others are forced upon her by society. A woman is often invisible and ubiquitous at the same time.

This body of work is a conscious combination of Fine Arts and Anthropology. A dedicated process of research, reading and reflection creates the framework for her art. She uses a range of mediums and techniques specifically chosen to reflect the psychological and emotional connotations of each piece.

Indulgence is a tribute as well as an admonition to the modern woman. She encourages women to be faithful to themselves and to be in touch with their inner self.

This sculpture exhibition will be displayed from Friday 10th September to Saturday 9th October

About the artist...

Canadian born artist Danièle took to the arts, like a fish to water. She hails from an illustrious and creative background. As a child, she had always been fascinated by paper dolls and spent many winter afternoons designing ensembles for them. This led to her toying with the idea of becoming a designer someday.

Typically, she was eager to explore and travel the world looking for new experiences to enrich her life with. She has lived in Canada, Mexico, Africa, Australia and now Singapore. She started out as a practicing artist in Montreal in 1985. She has been exhibiting her artworks in Australia since 1998.

If the essence of Danièle could be summed up, one would describe her as a free spirit with a zest for life that is evident in everything she does.
