We offer 4 Advanced levels: Threshold 1, 2 and 3 correspond to the B1 level of the Common European Framework for Languages and B2 for Threshold 4.

Course description
Listening: I can understand a radio or telephone interview. I can understand the general meaning of a song. I can extract key information from a description of a person (a portrait) or a place. I can follow a dialogue on familiar themes and I can easily recognize different levels of language.
Reading: I can understand informational texts, advertisements; I can begin to appreciate literary texts or poetry. I can understand and use definitions from a French dictionary. I can read and understand comics, pamphlets.
Spoken interaction: I have mastered the basic elements for the expression of fear, concern, cause and effect, hope, indifference, disappointment, condition and hypothesis.
Spoken production:
I can say that I remember or have forgotten something. I can describe a painting or an art work. I can recount in the past tense.
Writing: I can write dialogues, advertisements, travel stories.
Grammatical structures: Sequence of tenses
Cultural aspects: Authors and French literature. French satirical comics. The French and money – Income taxes, taxes and the economy.

Course description
Listening: I can understand the main points of a political economic debate, a lengthy interview on an unknown topic or character where the language is spoken reasonably quickly and in an authentic way.
Reading: I can understand television reviews, reports on speeches and opinions expressed in a forum.
Spoken interaction: I can disagree and make concessions. I can debate on a variety of subjects, both familiar and unfamiliar. I am self sufficient in social situations.
Spoken production: I can participate and take part in complex exchanges, I can organise and present my ideas clearly, and I can interject to prevent someone from speaking. I can use figurative expressions.
Writing: I can write a film review. I can produce a coherent text from different information. I can participate in an internet forum. I can write a cover letter and a CV.
Grammatical structures: Pronominal verbs. The infinitive construction. The future perfect tense
Cultural aspects: The European Union. The job market (interview, cover letter, CV).

French Icons is on Thu from 6 to 8 pm ($350, textbook included)
Great course to learn about the French Icons from cars to perfumes via Victor Hugo and so much more. Students will be encouraged to present an Icon themselves and different teachers will take the course for a greater variety.
Langue et Culture class in on Tue from 6 to 8 pm ($329)
Perfect course for those who wish to maintain and enhance their speaking, reading, listening skills as well as their knowledge of the French culture. Throught the use of different media: newspaper and magazine articles, literary texts, songs, poems, documentaries and so; students will discuss in class current issues relevant to today's France.
French Literature is on Wed from 6 to 8 pm ($329)
Improve your writing style and speaking proficency through the study of literary texts.
DALF C1 Preparation Course is on Sat from 9 am to 12 pm ($450).
Great course to challenge yourself and really progress. Demanding and with lots of homework! Prepares you for the C1 DALF exam to be held in Nov 2010 at Alliance.
