A Close Knit
The Brisbane Festival is seeking participants from the French Community to take part in a knitting project which will feature at this year’s Sunsuper Breakfast. This event will have a French theme and will be staged on the 5 September on the Goodwill Bridge, which links QUT to South Bank. Community groups will share the process of creating a knitted installation based on their histories, culture and experiences. Each physical installation will form a focal point for the Creative Communities Program, allowing culturally diverse groups to share and learn.

The object of these FREE workshops is to create an installation piece through the art of knitting. This craze of installations is known around the World, as ‘Yarn Bombing’ or ‘Guerilla Knitting’. Examples of these installation can be found on the internet if you Google these topics or key words, ‘Yarn Bombing’ or ‘Guerilla Knitting’.

The workshops will run between 1 - 3 pm on Saturday afternoons and will commence on Saturday the 24 July and run for 6 consecutive weeks concluding on Saturday 28 of August, 2010.
The venue for the workshops will be 121 Cordelia Street, South Brisbane at the Jagera Community Arts Centre (please see the link here)
The workshops will be facilitated by Erin Murphy - Knitting instructor and Jacqueline Steffen - Crocheting instructor. Workshops will be open to the wider public, so please feel free to invite your extend Family and Friends along to the workshop.
The Jagera Community Arts Centre has toilets and a kitchen and the Brisbane Festival will provide tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the afternoon.
