Alliance Francaise - Return Home

Le Bookclub

Our book club meets once a month at the Brisbane State Library, Cultural Centre Stanley Place, South Bank. We gather in the coffee shop at 10am and then proceed to room 2D (on level 2) at about 10.30am, staying until 12pm.

The group size varies from about 8 to 12. Normally, 100 pages or so are assigned for each session, depending on the difficulty of the book. We freely discuss our impressions in a very friendly and informal atmosphere...tout en français. Our authors are chosen from contemporary French writers such as Marcel Pagnol, Erik Orsenna, Andreï Makine, François Cheng, JMG Le Clézio, Amin Maalouf, Marjane Satrapi, Jean Teulé, Hervé Bazin... New members are welcome.

Please note that we may change our venue due to exceptional events.
