kids and teens classes
The Alliance Française welcomes children, to teach them French while having fun. We offer a one hour class, once a week, to introduce young children to the sounds of French language & have them experience French culture in a friendly and supportive environment. Teachers will offer support for students starting French or help the intermediates to reinforce their school knowledge.
We recommend the children to use the resources from the library (books, magazines, DVDs) and to participate into our cultural and social activities for them to experience French outside the classroom.

You will find below a description and links to enrol for our classes for all the various class ages: Les Tout-Petits (3-5yo), Les Petits et les Grands (6-10yo) and Les Pré-Ados et Les Ados (11-17yo).

Les Tout-Petits - 3 to 5 years old
Alliance Française de Brisbane offers the natural way to experience French language and culture from the earliest age. 3 to 5 year olds are offered a fun introduction to French in a friendly and supportive environment. It uses specifically adapted teaching materials complemented by the Resource Centre. This class gives your child an opportunity to have fun while learning a new language. In a kindy-like environment, your child will be exposed to the French language at an age when their minds are likened to a sponge. The children are encouraged to participate in the “everyday” class routine as well as the activities organised by the teacher. A couple of themes are set for each ten week term, and all class activities revolve around these themes. Class activities comprise of singing, dancing, story telling, drawing, craft, counting, and playing interactive games with the other children. Parents are more than welcome to stay for their child’s first lesson, but after that, it is not recommended that parents stay in the classroom. The classes run for an hour per week over ten weeks.
Material: Children will receive two books per term, eight in the year ($106). These books come from a selection made by “L'école des Loisirs” a unique publishing company extensively used in French kindies and primary schools. The story books will be used in the class as a supportive resource.

Alliance Française offers extra curricular tuitions for students who study French at school, focusing on conversational skills. Learning implies repetition. Alliance offers this opportunity to the teens to reuse what they know in a different way and henceforth to extend their learning. Teachers at Alliance are all French-speakers up on spoken French and the students will benefit from their native pronunciation. On a larger scale Alliance Française is the meeting point for lovers of the French language; no need to mention that is the best place to encounter motivated people to share one's French experience with (please check our social and cultural calendar of activities for children and teens). This way, the students can feel they are part of a network that makes French real...and not only learnt! Finally, Alliance is supported by a larger and worldwide network that can guide the students overseas and help them step toward cultural difference and understanding. The class is 1.5h per week over ten weeks.
Material: Absolute Beginners, Beginner 1 and Advanced Beginners will use the textbook Sac à dos. It provides many real life situations and deals with themes of immediate interest to teens. Students are invited to talk about themselves, their habits, their likes and dislikes. After each unit they complete a project and can also proceed to self-assesments. DVD are used. This method is for young adolescents aiming at developing their linguistic, communication and cultural skills.A full colour innovative 3-level beginner's course with a difference.
