Lois has been a teacher of French in Australia and overseas for many years as well as a Head of Department in Languages. Since 2003 she has been an active member of the Executive committees of the Modern Language Teachers’ Association of QLD (MLTAQ), the French Teachers’ Branch of QLD (FTBQ), the Federation of Associations of French Teachers in Australia (FATFA) and the Alliance Française of Brisbane (AFB). Lois is currently teaching French to years 10, 11 and 12 in the International Baccalaureate curriculum at the Queensland Academy of Creative Industries.
Since 2003 ongoing French-related roles and awards include:
conference committee member (2004, 2006, 2008, 2010) and presenter at MLTAQ and FATFA conferences in 2006 and 2008 as well as presenter at the Asia Pacific French conference in 2010
liaison officer between the FTBQ and the MLTAQ (2003 – 2010)
participant in the Intercultural Language in Teaching and Learning in Practice Project (ILTLP) in 2006 - producing and trialing resources for French teachers - USA website www.iltlp.unisa.edu.au/
two time French teaching scholarship winner - Stage Nouméa in 2004 and Endeavour Language Teaching Fellowship (ELTF) in 2006
mentor and presenter in the Australian Government Quality Teachers Program (AGQTP) as a part of a support program for beginning and returning teachers of French
secretary (2004), vice president (2005-2006) and president of FATFA (2007) as well as one of the 2 QLD representatives on the Executive (2003 – 2010)
editor of the MLTAQ journal “The LOTENOTE” from 2004 – 2006
producer of website resources for French teachers – History of France (Auvergne) and Real-Life Language Teaching – New Caledonia and Vanuatu
